Why Zero Six Reports Exists

Mission & Scope

Zero Six Reports exists to document what is often overlooked.

Much of what most directly affects people’s lives happens below the national level—inside local agencies, municipal governments, special districts, and publicly funded institutions. These spaces are where decisions are made, money is spent, and authority is exercised, yet they frequently receive limited, episodic, or surface-level coverage.

Zero Six Reports is an independent journalism project focused on accountability, transparency, and public-interest reporting. The work centers on issues that are routinely underreported or avoided altogether: institutional misconduct, conflicts of interest, nepotism, misuse of authority, failures of oversight, and patterns of behavior that only become visible when examined over time.

The scope of reporting is primarily within California, with an emphasis on local and regional government, public safety agencies, and publicly funded organizations. While individual stories may appear isolated, the goal is to document systems—how power operates, how accountability succeeds or fails, and how decisions made out of public view can have real consequences.

This project is independent by design. It is not affiliated with political parties, advocacy groups, corporations, or government entities. Independence allows reporting to follow evidence rather than narratives, and facts rather than access.

Zero Six Reports operates under a simple framework:

Issues must affect the public interest

Claims must be supported by documentation, records, or corroborated sources

Uncertainty is acknowledged rather than obscured

Corrections are made openly when errors occur

The purpose of this site is not to inflame, persuade, or posture. It is to observe carefully, verify thoroughly, and publish responsibly—especially in areas where scrutiny is minimal and accountability is weakest.

When institutions wield authority, the public deserves clarity. When systems fail, those failures deserve to be recorded. Zero Six Reports exists to do that work.
